Also known as Crematogaster ants, acrobat ants get their name from their ability to raise their abdomen over their thorax when disturbed. They prefer to nest in moist or decaying wood outdoors but will enter homes through cracks and damaged areas. Inside, they can establish satellite colonies within wall voids or insulation.
