Black Vine Weevils (Otiorhynchus sulcatus)
Black vine weevils are one of the most destructive nursery and garden pests, with adults notching leaf margins and larvae feeding on the roots and crown of a wide range of ornamental plants. The flightless adults are active at night, making them difficult to detect until plant damage becomes evident. Larval root feeding is the more damaging stage and can kill plants outright. A combination of soil drenches targeting larvae and surface sprays targeting adults provides comprehensive control.
