Confused Flour Beetles (Tribolium confusum)
Confused flour beetles are one of the most common pests of stored grain products, infesting flour, cereals, pasta, spices, and other dry goods in homes, warehouses, and food processing facilities. Their presence causes off-flavors in infested food and can trigger allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Despite the name, confusion between this species and the red flour beetle is common due to their similar appearance. Eliminating all infested products, deep cleaning pantry areas, and applying targeted residual treatments breaks the infestation cycle.
