Western Conifer Seed Bug (Leptoglossus occidentalis)
The western conifer seed bug is a large, brownish leaf-footed bug that feeds on the seeds and cones of conifer trees and invades homes in late summer and fall seeking overwintering sites in wall voids, attics, and other sheltered spaces. Its buzzing flight and loud, alarming appearance often cause concern indoors, though it is entirely harmless and does not reproduce inside structures. Sealing cracks and gaps in exterior walls and applying perimeter residual treatments before fall prevents mass indoor invasions.
