Wolf Spiders (Lycosidae)
Wolf spiders are large, fast-moving hunting spiders that chase and pounce on prey rather than building webs, and are often encountered in homes and garages particularly in autumn when they seek warm shelter. While their large size and speed are alarming, they are harmless to humans and pose no real danger — their bite, while painful, is medically insignificant. They are actually beneficial predators of insects and other arthropods. Sealing foundation gaps and applying perimeter treatments reduces their entry into structures.
