Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (Halyomorpha halys)
The brown marmorated stink bug is an invasive species from Asia that has become a significant agricultural and household pest across the United States. It feeds on a wide range of fruits, vegetables, and ornamental plants, and invades homes in large numbers in the fall to overwinter in wall voids and attics. When disturbed or crushed, it releases a pungent odor that gives the species its common name. Sealing entry points and applying perimeter residual treatments in late summer greatly reduces indoor invasions.
