Broad Mites (Polyphagotarsonemus latus)
Broad mites are microscopic pests that attack a wide range of ornamental and vegetable plants, injecting toxic saliva that causes distorted, bronzed, and hardened new growth. They thrive in warm, humid conditions and can rapidly spread between plants in greenhouses and gardens. Because of their tiny size, infestations are often misdiagnosed as a nutritional deficiency or viral disease. Miticide applications and maintaining good air circulation are key components of an effective management program.
