Carpet Beetles (Anthrenus & Attagenus spp.)
Carpet beetles are small, oval insects whose larvae feed on natural fibers including wool, silk, fur, feathers, and leather, causing irregular holes in carpets, clothing, and upholstered furniture. Adults are harmless and feed on pollen outdoors, but their entry into homes leads to damaging larval infestations. They are often discovered only after significant damage has already occurred to valued textiles. Thorough vacuuming, dry cleaning susceptible items, and targeted residual insecticide treatments eliminate active infestations.
