Clover Mites (Bryobia praetiosa)
Clover mites are tiny, reddish-brown mites that feed on lawn grasses, clover, and ornamentals and invade homes in large numbers in spring and fall seeking shelter. They do not bite humans or cause structural damage, but their crushing leaves reddish stains on surfaces and they can be alarming in large numbers. Removing vegetation directly against the foundation and applying a perimeter barrier treatment effectively prevents mass entry into structures. Indoor infestations are best managed through vacuuming and targeted spot treatments.
