Dark Rover Ants (Brachymyrmex patagonicus)
Dark rover ants are tiny, dark brown ants that have become an increasing urban pest in the southern United States, particularly in areas around pools, bathrooms, and kitchens where moisture is present. They nest in a variety of locations including soil, mulch, under objects, and inside structures, forming small but numerous colonies. Their small size allows them to enter through the tiniest gaps and cracks. Targeted baiting and residual perimeter treatments are most effective, as direct sprays often cause colony budding.
