Darkling Beetles (Tenebrionidae)
Darkling beetles are a large family of beetles that include stored product pests as well as outdoor species that feed on decaying plant material and fungi. In poultry facilities and grain storage, some species are serious pests whose larvae damage insulation and can serve as vectors of poultry diseases. Outdoors, they are mostly harmless scavengers. Control focuses on sanitation, removing decaying organic material, and targeted insecticide applications in facilities where economic damage occurs.
