Saw-Toothed Grain Beetles (Oryzaephilus surinamensis)
Saw-toothed grain beetles are slender, brown beetles with distinctive saw-like projections on their thorax and are among the most common secondary pests of stored food products including flour, dried fruit, cereals, and sugar. They do not attack undamaged whole grain but readily infest broken kernels and processed foods, with infestations often originating from improperly stored products brought home from the store. Discarding all infested materials, thoroughly cleaning pantry shelves, and applying residual treatments breaks the infestation cycle.
