Centipedes (Chilopoda)
Centipedes are fast-moving, multi-legged arthropods that prey on insects, spiders, and other small invertebrates, making them somewhat beneficial in controlling other pest populations. House centipedes prefer moist environments and are commonly found in bathrooms, basements, and crawl spaces. While they can bite if handled, the reaction is usually minor and similar to a bee sting. Reducing excess moisture, sealing entry points, and applying perimeter treatments effectively keep centipede numbers in check.
