False Powderpost Beetles (Bostrichidae)
False powderpost beetles attack hardwoods with high starch content, boring into lumber, flooring, furniture, and structural timbers and leaving behind round exit holes and fine, flour-like powder. They are often introduced into homes through infested lumber or antique furniture and can cause cosmetic and structural damage over time. Unlike true powderpost beetles, they reinfest seasoned wood repeatedly if conditions are favorable. Professional fumigation or targeted residual treatments are recommended for active infestations in structural wood.
