Kudzu Bug (Megacopta cribraria)
The kudzu bug is an invasive stink bug from Asia that feeds primarily on kudzu and soybeans, becoming a significant agricultural pest in the southeastern United States since its arrival. Like its cousin the brown marmorated stink bug, it invades homes in large numbers in the fall to overwinter. When disturbed or crushed, it emits a pungent odor and its fluids can cause skin irritation and staining. Sealing exterior entry points and applying perimeter residual insecticide treatments in late summer and fall minimizes indoor invasions.
