Lady beetles are well-known beneficial insects and voracious predators of aphids, scale insects, and other soft-bodied plant pests, making them highly valuable allies in gardens and agricultural settings. A single lady beetle can consume hundreds of aphids in its lifetime. While outdoor populations are entirely beneficial, some species like the multicolored Asian lady beetle can become nuisance invaders of homes in fall. Protecting outdoor lady beetle populations while sealing structural entry points provides the best of both worlds.
