Oriental Cockroaches (Blatta orientalis)
Oriental cockroaches, also called water bugs or black beetles, are large, shiny dark cockroaches that prefer cool, moist environments such as sewers, basements, drains, and crawl spaces, where they feed on decaying organic matter and breed in large numbers. They travel through sewer pipes into buildings and carry pathogens that contaminate food and surfaces, posing a significant health risk. Their preference for lower floors and damp conditions makes them harder to detect than German cockroaches. Professional residual treatments, combined with moisture control and exclusion, provide effective elimination.
