Stink Bugs (Pentatomidae)
Stink bugs are plant-feeding insects that pierce plant tissue and suck sap from fruits, vegetables, and ornamentals, and release a strong, unpleasant odor when disturbed or crushed as a defense mechanism. The brown marmorated stink bug is the most problematic invasive species, causing agricultural damage and invading homes in large numbers in the fall. While they do not reproduce indoors, their aggregating behavior and odor make large numbers very unpleasant. Exterior perimeter treatments in late summer and thorough sealing of entry points are the most effective prevention strategies.
